Rockabilly Club A Place for Good Music |

What can you expect to find at a
rockabilly club? Rockabilly
music is loud with a heavy beat. In
a rockabilly club, you’ll probably find a live band made up of a
gulping, stuttering lead singer (as this is the style of the singing in
rockabilly music), a lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and upright bass, played
in slap style. During breaks,
the speakers will pipe through favorites by rockabilly legends of past
like Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, and Buddy
Holly. |

The people will be laid back and relaxed. Men will be dressed in Daddy-O shirts or pastel colored shirts with collars. Over their shirts they’ll be clad in baggy sport jackets, with the shirt collars worn over the jacket collar. Slacks compliment the relaxed classiness of the ensemble, which is accented by creeper shoes in any color of the rainbow. In rockabilly clubs, you may find
women dressed in the classic style of the 1950’s. This would include gingham blouses and straight skirts with
peek toe heeled shoes. Then
again, you may find that they opt for a simpler look, wearing the capris,
or pedal pushers, that were made popular by rockabilly women of the 50’s
with Daddy-O style shirts that are tapered today for women’s figures. They may even be wearing the modern creeper shoes that are
styled for women today. |
