Breaking All the Rules

Rockabilly music is the root of rock and roll today.  As a rebellious style of music (think of Elvis Presley and his �swaying hips� that caused a huge controversy), it would make sense that those who jump on the bandwagon and follow the style would dress in a controversial manner.  Many a rockabilly woman did just that.

Many rockabilly women were less blatant in their rebellious attitude and wore simple form-fitting blouses with straight skirts that showed off a sexy body in an innocent fashion, or perhaps opted for a swing dress, which was lower cut at the top and had more of a flare to the skirt that was a lot less restrictive for dancing, others defied the rules of society at every opportunity.

The rockabilly woman was one of the first women to wear pants in public.  Today referred to as capris, the �pedal pushers� worn in the 1950�s were a huge fashion trend started by the rockabilly woman, breaking rules and freeing other women to begin wearing pants on a daily basis outside the farm.

The modern rockabilly woman may prefer something much simpler.  Daddy-O style shirts have been brought into the 21^st century for women�s fashion, with form fitting shape that wasn�t offered back in the 1950�s.  No longer do they hang shapelessly at the sides.  Creeper shoes, once a �male� thing as well, have been created in every color under the sun for women as well as men.
