Rockabilly clothing for a woman is
incomplete without the addition of some vintage rockabilly jewelry.
What sort of rockabilly jewelry was worn, and what can be found
today to complete an outfit? |

Rockabilly jewelry also included
earrings. Some earrings were
shaped like dice, pointed toward a rebellious attitude, while others were
more innocent, like blossoms or a pair of hibiscus.
Cherries were a favorite subject of rockabilly jewelry, and often a
tri-cherry design matched on both earrings and a pendant necklace. Other items that might be worn as
rockabilly jewelry were shell necklaces and earrings. These favored items were inexpensive and easily replaceable,
with a trip to a small beach front shop.
In fact, all rockabilly jewelry was easy to come by and cheaply
replaced. Rockabilly jewelry was considered
sexy, and was a small piece of the whole picture of the perfect rockabilly
woman. Rockabilly women were
the topics of many pinups in the 1950’s, and most pinup girls were never
caught without some form of jewelry.
Rockabilly jewelry was not expensive, as it wasn’t meant as a
status symbol. It was simply
a statement of who you were and what you stood for. |
