the 1950’s were not stiletto style, but they were not the thick
platforms of the 1970’s, either. They
were sexy and yet rebellious in nature, breaking away from the norm. The heels were sexy and sassy and put a healthy “swagger”
in the women’s walk.
Rockabilly clothing has had nearly
as much influence on society as the music itself. As a sub-culture, rockabilly seems to have withstood the test
of time quite well and almost seems to be growing now. In the 1980’s, The Stray Cats were quite successful, and
they can attribute their style to the rockabilly influence. They wore their hair in the typical pompadour style, and clad
their feet in rockabilly shoes.
