Rockabilly Weekend A Great Date Idea |

A rockabilly weekend may include a getaway to Las Vegas, one of the rockabilly capitals of the world, perhaps as a road trip in a 1950’s style car or on a Harley Davidson, both of these being preferred methods of transportation for true “rockabillies”. Rockabilly weekends may be spent wearing clothing that resembles the style of 1950’s superstars like Carl Perkins, Johhny Cash, Roy Orbison, and Buddy Holly. Daddy-O style shirts, baggy sport jackets, slacks, and creeper shoes define the menswear. The classic rockabilly hairstyle is worn with lots of Brylcreem to hold the pompadour shape and provide a notable shine. If you’ve never heard rockabilly
music, you are missing out. Rockabilly
is a style that was created in the mid-1950’s when Elvis Presley and
some of his musical friends were fooling around in a Memphis studio.
The genre has been improved upon since.
Today, rockabilly is different than the original 50’s style, but
a rockabilly weekend inspires great fun and dating opportunities. |

A female planning a rockabilly
weekend may wear a gingham vintage-style blouse with capri pants, (the
modern day equivalent of the 1950’s pedal pushers made popular by the
rebellious rockabilly chicks of the time).
Perhaps the lady may decide on a straight wool skirt paired with
peek toe shoes, or perhaps a swing style dress resembling early rockabilly
wear. Then again, the modern
rockabilly woman may choose to wear a simple female-style Daddy-O shirt
with feminized creeper shoes on her rockabilly weekend.
